MAGDALENA GIRLS BASKETBALL 2003-2013
The MAG Girls Basketball Program has been under the direction of Head Coach Wally Sanchez and Assistant Coach Dee Monte for ten years (2003-2013). In that time they have averaged more than 20 wins per season. Five District Runner-up Titles, Five District Championship Titles, and Ten New Mexico State Championship Appearances. The MAG Girls Basketballs Teams are known through out the state of New Mexico for playing any team, anytime, and anywhere regardless of classification. Mag Girls are classified 1A, which is the smallest classification in New Mexico.Year-in and year-out their non-district schedule consist of 5A, 4A, and 3A teams which more often than not the MAG Tough Girls defeat.Record:230 wins-65 loses (2003-2013).

Coach Dee Monte was born in Socorro New Mexico. She grew up in the Alamo/Magdalena area. Coach attended Magdalena Schools since kindergartenand graduated in 2007 from MAG High School. Upon Gradution she attended CNMCC for 2 years. Coach Monte's basketball experience consist of 3 years playing varsity and 3 years coaching, all at MAG H.S. Coach is currently employed at Magdalena Schools as an Instructional Assisstant and girls basketball coach. Dee has 1 daughter now in attendence in Magdalena Elementary school.
Coach Sanchez prior to arriving at Magdalena had only worked with boys basketball teams. In the 70's Varsity at AAA St. Pius, 80's Varsity at AAAA Santa Fe High, 90's Varsity at AAAAA Los Lunas and at AAAAA Rio Grande.
Coaxed by former Magdalena principal and basketball coach Mr. Joe Marez and former superintendent Doug Hulce, Coach Sanchez arrived in Magdalena in July of 2003. He attributes the success of the program one to great, hard working, dedicated players. Two, committed assistant coaches and three to super community, parent and administrative support.
